Dear Community,
Hello and blessings from The Perreaux-Dominguez family. We have created this online space to invite our community to support us with something very urgent in our lives. We are currently in the process of acquiring a home in the Bronx. The Bronx has been our home for nearly 11 years and we feel God has planted us here with a purpose. But as many of you may know, the cost of living in New York City continues to rise rapidly. We have personally experienced this in the form of rent hikes, as we’ve lived in 4 difference homes in the past 11 years. Rent has increased by at least $100 a month every time we’ve renewed a lease. This is one of the reasons we have made the prayerful decision to purchase a home in this beautiful borough. The reason we searched for a house and not an apartment is because our hope is to have our own inter-generational home that houses a grandma, a wife & husband, and a really tall toddler.
We are deeply grateful to presently have the funds for the down payment towards a house we came across in the Bedford Park area, but the closing costs have reached an amount where we realized that support will be necessary to make this a reality. We were unable to qualify for several city and state programs/grants designed to help with closing costs, but we will be saving diligently in the upcoming months. Yet, the closing costs to purchase this home is over $37,000 - and thankfully so many of you have been SO generous and now we just need $4,500 remaining to reach our goal!
God has been faithful with us every step of this process, especially with our ability to qualify for a loan in the amount we needed for the house, and we are believing He will continue to be faithful through marvelous and unexpected ways. In big transitions of life, like marriage and having a child, people often seek their community to support them through a registry of sorts so this is our version of doing that for this big transition of trying to become homeowners in a place to raise Moses and welcome our community and neighbors. This is why we are looking to our community to support us through prayers and generosity in this season.
