yet, we’ve replaced alignment with assimilation and agreement - but that’s not the oneness Christ calls us to, that’s sameness that culture finds comfortable.

so, this is our beautiful and powerful invitation….

to rebuke the normalized state of division by embodying true unity and embracing our differences as a way to to move towards dignity and leave dehumanization behind.

to walk away from false peace together and create real Christ-like belonging within His body.

about this book:

Too often, what we call "peace" is really just silence, sameness, or surface unity, while below the surface, division is growing. But what if true Christian unity embraces differences instead of erasing them? What if real Christianity means we commit to dethroning the uniformity we often require for belonging?

In False Peace, I challenge our shallow approaches to unity rooted in colonialism, assimilation, and comfort, guiding the church to:

  • reject the surface-level uniformity that has crept into Christian culture,

  • embrace courageous biblical unity that reflects God's heart, and

  • build diverse communities of mutuality and resilient love.

If we want to radically transform the church and our witness in a fractured world, we must celebrate God's beautiful design to create a people centered on oneness rather than sameness while de-normalizing division.

We can actually be unified; in fact, we ought to be.

what are people saying?

Jackie Hill Perry - Artist, Author, Podcaster, and Bible Teacher

“Surely, we must know or can at least imagine the difference between true and false peace. The false version wears unity’s clothes without the power and authenticity to walk upright. In this work, Pricelis helps us divest of that illusion by exposing the ways sameness has been mistaken for oneness. To be different is beautiful. To be one is necessary. To be both is the Gospel. And Pricelis is showing us the way.”

Nijay Gupta - Julius R. Mantey Professor of New Testament, Northern Seminary and Author

Dietrich Bonhoeffer famously called believers to renounce "cheap grace," which seeks forgiveness without discipleship. Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez presents a similarly bold imperative for the church today to reject cheap forms of peace-making and unity that are superficial and showy. Instead, real peace—gospel peace—is costly and hard-won. Pricelis brings to the conversation the maturity of an experienced pastor, the boldness of a prophet, the liturgy of a poet, and the practical questions and "next-steps" of a community leader. This book gives me fresh hope for gospel unity in a viciously divided world."

Phylicia Masonheimer, Founder of Every Woman a Theologian, Bible Teacher, and Author

‘Having known Pricelis for seven years and ministered alongside her for six, I can tell you this: She lives what she teaches. She prays for her enemies. She prays for those who hate her, who call her names, and who misrepresent her work and ministry. She labors for those who misunderstand her. She thinks of others before herself. She holds to the truths of Scripture and historic Christian ethics, but will always listen to those who disagree. She fights for the healing of the hurt and abused. She will say what she thinks, but what she thinks is not her ultimate standard – Christ is. I’ve watched her work toward real peace in her real life. This is not just words to her.” - From the Forward of the Book

why did I write this book?

why did I write this book?

because I don’t believe I’m the only one tired and discouraged by the division.

because I know that there’s another way to be together.

because I know that sameness is not God’s idea and I want to be a part of a Body of Christ that follows Christ, not culture or colonization.

because I love the church and I want her to be unified for good.

because division is destroying us and sameness is erasing us.

AND THERE IS ANOTHER WAY….

Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope at your calling—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

— Ephesians 4:1-6
