a 47-day lent guide of scriptures and spiritual practices for the body of Christ.
Lent is…
A 40-day season of reflection, repentance, and spiritual preparation observed by many Christians globally and historically in the weeks leading up to Resurrection Sunday that begins on Ash Wednesday. It centers the gospel message of liberation for all through the sacrificial death and celebratory resurrection of Jesus Christ. During Lent, believers often engage in practices such as prayer, fasting, generosity, and self-discipline to deepen their faith and refocus on their relationship with God. It is a time for introspection, humility, repentance, and renewal, culminating in Holy Week, which recalls the final days of Jesus’ earthly ministry.
Selah is…
A word we often see in the book of Psalms and other Old Testament books that invites us to pause/stop and listen, particularly to God. While the world chooses to be loud and busy in this season, we get to quiet our minds and slow down our hearts to listen to the One who died for us and resurrected.
Spiritual Practices and Disciplines
These are ancient gifts that have historically formed the Church to look like Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of the Holy Scriptures. The purpose of these practices is not to do them in a religious way to earn anything from God or ‘appear’ more Christian from the outside, but to genuinely grow your relationship with God, reflect Jesus, be renewed and healed, and walk in the liberation you’ve been given for His glory and for the benefit of your neighbor. Spiritual disciplines are tools, not tests and growth comes from God, spiritual disciplines help create space for Him to work. Each week, you’ll get a spiritual practice in the cards to engage in.
walk through lent slowly and intentionally.
Purpose of the Cards
Lent is a concentrated time to really reflect on the gospel message. What happens sometimes is that we forget all the things that are a part of the gospel message - this is why these cards will center Jesus and the gospel by way of 7 themes:
WEEK 1: DUST
what we are and what it means in light of eternity, the gospel, and God
WEEK 2: DECENTER
how repentance forms and returns us to the One who we belong to
WEEK 3: DISTRIBUTE
what generosity gets to look like because of Jesus’ generosity on the cross
WEEK 4: DEPENDANCE
how salvation leads to our surrender and submission to Him
WEEK 5: DIGNITY
what living justly looks like and how we see our neighbors
WEEK 6: DELIGHT
how we get to live in gratitude, joy, and contentment because of Him
WEEK 7: DIE TO SELF
what we choose to do as we follow Him for the rest of our days
